Is that... [damn, what's the kid's name?] Hinata? He [seems dumb as a sack of bricks] doesn't seem like the academic type.

[S-so blunt. But there's no point in denying it. Anyone who has ever spend any time with Hinata off the court knows that.]

Daichi told the other first years to help.

[Well one of them has the courage to say it.] He's your friend though, right? [Iwaizumi is pretty sure they qualify as friends. Plus, it's not like Kageyama is an intellectual giant.]

Daichi seems like he'd be a good captain. [Of a very different style to someone else who springs to mind.]

I think so. [He's never really had a friend before, he feels like he should ask before labeling their relationship as such.

He can be strict but also tells us we did a good job and motivates everyone. [Kind of like Oikawa.]

That's all you can ask for in a captain. [He barks a laugh.] Hope he's not a pain in the ass, though. [Things he probably shouldn't say when it's obvious who he means. But everyone knows Oikawa is good at what he does even if he is insufferable.]

[settering]

No, he's very responsible and mature. [Or maybe it only seems that way because he's comparing him to Oikawa.]

[Iwaizumi chokes on his own spit.]

Responsible and mature?

[That's common knowledge, right? Someone has to keep Oikawa in check and for as long as Tobio has known that someone has been Iwaizumi.]

[He splutters and can feel heat in his cheeks. He's not. He doesn't think he is? It's not like he knows anyone more responsible or mature than he is, but he doesn't imagine himself fitting those labels either.]

[Tobio scratches at his cheek, only embarrassed now that his compliment has been accepted.]
