I don't think you need to be as good as Sawamura-san, you're not him, focusing on your own strengths is always better, Ennoshita-kun~
Besides, how can you be so sure you're not as good when it's been a year since you played with him, hm? [He's slipped into his old captain demeanour without intending to, all smiles and support, he's looking forward to having kouhais next year.]

[He knows about the rivalry with Kageyama, but he's... admittedly not sure of his capability to pass in this school. Actually, if no one gives him a volleyball scholarship, he might as well kiss his chances goodbye here. Anyway, being on the other side of the court against Kageyama outside of practice would be interesting, assuming he even gets that far in tryouts.]
He visits the school occasionally, so sometimes he still practices with us. [he offers the answer casually, politely avoiding commenting on the first part. It's... not as if he's not aware of it, at least. It's just weird being praised sometimes, especially off court.] If I remember correctly, you're going to have a practice match soon with his school.
no subject
Does he? That's so like him, keeping up with his old team. I suppose it's good practise for you. Though, if he's spending all his time playing high schoolers I can't imagine his team will be hard to beat. [He says it lightly and cheerfully, but he's taking note as he does, all information is important information.
He hadn't realised Daichi is on that team, but he's been waiting for old Karasuno members to turn up, they seem like the types to never go away. He'll have to offer some information on him to the rest of his team, details of first years are always harder to find.]

The comment about Daichi and the implication though makes his smile a little tighter. Well.]
Well, I wouldn't say that. After all, we did beat Seijoh in the last match.
[That, and Daichi wasn't really a regular yet, but that didn't matter. He insulted the Karasuno he's leading.]

This team isn't Seijoh, Ennoshita-kun. We have a next level dynamic and it's very complex! So that comparison is a little unfair, don't you think? Besides, aren't you considering joining us? Do you want to claim that we're not strong and powerful leaders of the pack?
no subject
This isn't the only school I'm considering, besides... I haven't quite decided if I want to join the team. It's different from when we were in high school, after all.
[He might, he might not, it really depends. As current captain, he doesn't want to leave any regrets when he graduates, but he never really thought about whether or not he wants to carry that on in the future or if he would be satisfied with what they have now.]
What's the team like anyway?
no subject
Hmmm, we're friendly, I think. The senpais like taking care of first years, but it's different to high school, everyone understands that the work is harder so most of the training is intense and short. [His sheepishness from before returns.] But I talked the coach into a wider load.
They like loyalty. [He shrugs, mostly they're a standard team, trying hard to use everything they can.]
no subject
[Or maybe he's speaking of the current Karasuno, the generations he's been in where they kept dragging him back despite his numerous protests. Even if it took a while, the effort worked, but it never quite felt right to be captain since, despite what everyone else says.]
Intense and short? Not longer than in highschool?
no subject
I think it's about the same, but you can't really expect university level to be shorter than high school, so that means that it's short, doesn't it? [There's probably gaping holes in his logic he doesn't care to fill. He likes filling his time to the brim with his coursework and exercise, this conversation is probably the longest he's spent on something other than those since a cute girl from one of his classes asked him out and they grabbed coffee.]
no subject
[So depending on where they go, it might not even count the same. It's nothing like in highschool, where they can even seem like more of a celebrity than pros with sports. Not as much as baseball, but well-- he's seen Oikawa on TV before for a reason.]
no subject
Hmm, I think you're right there. But, [and he plasters on a smile like he does when he's selling himself to a camera,] it's very fun, Ennoshita-kun.
no subject
When you smile like that, it makes you look untrustworthy to me, Oikawa-san. No offense...
[And really, he doesn't mean any, but it's such a suspicious smile overall that he does feel dubious looking at it.]
no subject
I'll have you know I'm terribly trustworthy, they don't make untrustworthy people captains, you know? [He's really missing being able to pull the captain card on his current team and is just hoping that he gets named again when it's time for that.]
no subject
[Not... trustworthy though. Sorry. He's trying not to be rude again, but that's probably a moot point by now.]
