Right, so is that when you get off?
[His phrasing is intentional, of course. But he moves on anyway, better not to let him dwell on it for more than a moment.]
I would go to the one there, but I've found this guy who's caught my attention. I'm wondering if I can get him to smile like he means it.
[Kuroo is actually pretty okay with the university cafe, but then his taste for coffee is limited to a check list of two: 1) is it hot? 2) does it have caffeine involved somewhere? If both of those come out as "yes" then he's game for tipping it down his throat. Adding sugar would make it even better, but he can take what he can get.]
Guess I'll be taking that Columbian roast if you recommend it so highly, though.

[ He's too surprised to think of anything to say. He's not sure what surprises him more, the fact that this guy is trotting out these abominably cheesy lines without a hint of embarrassment, or that he's actually being flirted with. ]
I'll just ring that up for you, then.
[ It's hardly like Tsukishima has never gotten hit on on the job before, but he thinks he feels the tops of his ears burning as he inputs the order. He really hopes that isn't the case. ]
That will be ¥300. What's your name?
no subject
He hands over the coins before he checks around the coffee shop, there's a few people around, but not that many.] It's Kuroo. Are you asking for yourself or for the job? You won't be able to get rid of me with either answer, just so you know. [After all, he hasn't got his drink yet.]
no subject
He takes the coins and puts them in the till. He instinctively wants to hurry due to the embarrassment of possibly indicating to the guy - Kuroo - that he's interested, which he definitely isn't, but he makes himself move calmly. ]
For the job.
[ He pours Kuroo his coffee and returns with a steaming mug, sliding it across the counter to him, arching en eyebrow. ]
Should I want to get rid of you?
no subject
Nah, just thought I should say in case you were thinking about lying.
[He takes the mug, and has a sip. He mostly gets foam so it doesn't burn his mouth, and the general taste is nice. He runs his tongue over his lip to get rid of any lingering foam, and rests his elbow on the counter, warming his hands with the mug.]
So what's your favourite?
no subject
he goes to answer Kuroo's question, but the way he'd asked it right after licking the foam off his lips sends Tsukishima's brain to quite the suggestive place. there's no way Kuroo could possibly be asking about something that suggestive. but then what is he asking about?? ]
What's... my favourite?
[ ...great. he sounds so clueless. Kuroo must think he's an idiot right now. ]
no subject
Yeah, are you a vanilla latte kind of guy, espresso with a sprinkle of cinnamon? [Guess who knows nothing about coffee.]
Or maybe it's the Columbian roast that you'd really like some of. [And he takes another sip, getting some actual liquid from his cup filled with that Columbian roast blend.]
no subject
...even so, he finds himself watching Kuroo's throat move as he swallows. ]
I don't often drink coffee, actually. My favorite here is the seasonal sakura blossom and strawberry latte we offer in the spring.
[ he feels a little lame admitting he likes such a sweet, dessert-like drink, but if Kuroo is gonna judge him for it, well, he can just take his coffee and go drink it at a table instead of standing here at the counter. ]
I could go for a Columbian roast, [ he keeps his voice casual, but doesn't quite meet Kuroo's eyes ] depending on who's offering.
[ he can't believe he's being taken in by coffee-based pick-up lines. what a level to sink to. ]
no subject
For now he raises an eyebrow to match his crooked grin, and holds out his cup.] I wouldn't want to deny a cute barista a taste of something good.
[A bit too straightforward, perhaps, but if he's not overt then he can't imagine his message will get through. And it's not like he's showing any sign of backing away from Kuroo just yet.]
no subject
Kuroo called him cute. Tsukishima's definitely being flirted with. Not that it wasn't fairly obvious before, but now there isn't a doubt.
He wished he knew how this worked. If he takes a sip, is that supposed to indicate he wants to make out later?
Not that he would exactly be averse to that--He crosses his arms. ]
Trying to get an indirect kiss out of it? It's been a while since either of us were in high school.
[ ...It's not a no, though. ]
no subject
[He leans against the counter, a clear sign that he isn't going anywhere without Tsukishima giving him either a clear message that he should piss off or giving Kuroo something he can work with.
He hopes that he's not disrupting his work, but again, he could say something if he was.]
Come on, you did say you like it.
no subject
An hour.
...I get off work in an hour.
[ he clarifies, at Kuroo's look. ]
If you're still around then and feel like buying me a drink properly.
[ he's already looking past Kuroo at the two people approaching the counter, but the blush on his cheeks probably negates any effort he's making to sound aloof. ]
no subject
Okay, sure. See you in an hour.
[As he turns his back to the counter, drink in hand, and lets Tsukishima get on with his other customers, he breaks into a full grin, that doesn't entirely fade as he takes his drink to the one spare table by the window, and fishes out his phone to occupy himself until his date.
He has definitely got to text Bokuto about this.]
no subject
He interacts with the cafe's customers like a machine playing back a series of tape recorded dialogue, and then his shift is over. After finishing up and clocking out, he half-expects Kuroo to have left, but he's still there, sitting at the same table. Then he considers leaving himself, sneaking out the back, but, well. It's not like he has anything better to do, and this could be a nice change of pace. Right??
He sighs as he approaches Kuroo, shifting the bag hanging from his shoulder. He's now dressed in his own clothes rather than the stuffy cafe staff uniform he was wearing earlier, but his facial expression is no less stuffy. ]
Hi. Ready to go?
no subject
[Over-eager? Kuroo? Never.
He ducks his head a little, and runs his hand through the back of his hair, which doesn't help its sorry state. He may have received a few choice words from Kenma about making people's work harder.]
Thanks, by the way. You're pretty cool to give me a chance. So, uh... [he looks around, thinking, he should probably have considered where he's going to take Tsukishima in the time he waited. But he had to tell Bokuto just how cute Tsukki is. For an hour. He has good priorities. He offers Tsukishima a half smile.] Guessing you probably don't want to stick around here, huh? Want to go down by the river? I know a cute place.
